The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State has inaugurated ward and Local Government Area (LGA) executives across the 33 local councils, in a strategic push to consolidate its grassroots presence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The exercise, conducted simultaneously at designated centres across the state on Thursday, witnessed the swearing-in of newly constituted executive committees responsible for coordinating party affairs at the ward and local government levels.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the party’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Barrister Bimpe Adelowo, described the development as a critical step towards strengthening internal cohesion and expanding the party’s operational capacity across Oyo State.
Adelowo listed some of the newly inaugurated LGA chairmen as Hon. Idris Sola Lawal (Ibadan South West), Hon. Azeez Adegoke (Atiba), Alhaji Ashiru Soliu Ayinde (Saki West), Alhaji Biliaminu Onifade (Oyo East), Abideen Ibikunle (Ido), Chief Funso Owoade (Egbeda), Hon. Odeyale Obisesan (Ona-Ara), and Elder Solomon Akindele (Iseyin).
Others include Musbaudeen Faruq (Iwajowa), Hon. Abosede Zealot (Akinyele), Hon. Ismail Mosobalaje (Ibadan South East), Alhaji Wasiu Oriade (Ibadan North), Hon. Ismail Hossain (Ibadan North West), and Pastor Sunday Oyelakin (Ibadan North East), among others.
He emphasised that the party remains united under the leadership of the State Chairman, Yinka Olona, warning that any actions taken outside the authority of the recognised State Executive Council would be considered null and void.
According to him, the party would not tolerate attempts to create parallel structures, stressing that the leadership is determined to maintain unity and discipline within its ranks.
“There is no room for parallel congresses in Oyo State ADC. The Olona-led executives are fully in control, and we will ensure that the party’s interests are protected and advanced,” he said.
Adelowo urged members and supporters to rally behind the leadership as the party positions itself for future electoral contests.
He reiterated ADC’s commitment to offering credible alternative leadership to the people of Oyo State, expressing optimism that the inauguration of ward and LGA executives would further strengthen the party and enhance its readiness for upcoming elections.
