The Olowo of Owo, Oba (Dr) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, conferred honorary chieftaincy titles on two distinguished Nigerians during a grand ceremony at his palace in Owo, Ondo State, on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
The conferment was part of the events marking the monarch’s fifth coronation anniversary.
Chief (Dr) Mujidat Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja General of Nigeria, was installed as the Yeye Fajekolujo of Owo Land, while Her Excellency Ambassador Maureen Tamuno Adetamilore received the title of Yeye Folagboyero of Owo Land.
The ceremony was graced by dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, who represented the Governor, and His Royal Majesty, Air Commodore T.E.O. Ogube (Rtd.), the Perekure Kingoli 1, Amayanabo of Kirike, Rivers State.
Other notable attendees included traditional rulers such as the Oliyere of Iyere, Alale of Udasen, Asuada of Isuada, Olose of Ose, and Ajelu of Igbe.
The event also saw a large turnout of Owo Chiefs, led by the Ojumu of Igboroko, as well as Iyalojas and Iyalajes from Owo and Lagos State.
The conferment underscores the Olowo’s commitment to recognizing exceptional contributions to society while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Owo.
