
The Okanlomo Odua Veterans Football League 2026 is set to kick off in grand style on Sunday, February 15, 2026, with football legends converging on the pitch for the opening fixture at the Ilaji Stadium, Oloyo Village, Akanran, Ibadan.
Week One of the much-anticipated veterans’ league will see Wesley Ambassador Legends lock horns with Ibadan City All Stars Legends in what promises to be an entertaining encounter.
Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm, as fans prepare to relive classic football moments through the skills and experience of veteran players aged 50 years and above.
The 2026 edition of the league is powered by Mogaji Igbinsola Sunday Paul, the Oyo State Coordinator of the Pacesetters Humanitarian Support Organization, whose vision is aimed at promoting unity, wellness, and sustained engagement among retired footballers.
The competition also enjoys the strong backing of Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, the Okanlomo Odua and Bada Olubadan, whose support has further elevated the prestige of the tournament.
Organisers have attached attractive incentives to the league, with a total prize pool running into millions of naira. The overall winner of the competition will cart home ₦1 million, while the runners-up will receive ₦500,000. The team finishing in third place will earn ₦300,000, with the fourth-placed team taking home ₦200,000.
Speaking ahead of the opening match, Mr. Sunday Folarin Abiola disclosed that beyond team prizes, there will be side attraction awards for outstanding individual performances throughout the competition, adding extra motivation and excitement for participating players.
