Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has expressed deep appreciation to former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, for her unwavering support in the pursuit of justice over an alleged sexual harassment incident involving Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Senator Natasha recently accused Akpabio of sexually harassing her, a claim the Senate President has vehemently denied.
Also defending Akpabio is Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, who stated he was present at the Senate President’s residence alongside Natasha on the day the alleged incident supposedly took place, asserting that no such act occurred.
Despite the controversy, Ezekwesili has consistently called for a fair and transparent investigation into the matter. She also condemned the Senate’s decision to suspend Senator Natasha, describing it as a blow to justice and due process.
Amid the ongoing tension, Ezekwesili faced allegations of collecting money from Senator Natasha—claims she has firmly denied.
In a message of appreciation shared on Sunday, Senator Natasha lauded Ezekwesili’s integrity and courage, referring to her as a mother figure and mentor. “Your powerful words of steadfast support reflect the depth of your commitment and the sacrifices you are willing to make in pursuit of justice,” she wrote.
“In moments when many retreat in fear, your courage stands as a powerful reminder that integrity endures in the hearts of true patriots. Your support for a just cause is invaluable, and no level of blackmail can diminish your globally recognized reputation.”
Natasha reaffirmed her resolve to continue the fight for justice and safe spaces for women. “Together, we are stronger. We will not be silenced. And we will not back down until justice prevails,” she added.
The senator concluded by thanking Ezekwesili for “choosing to risk comfort” and standing with her and all Nigerian women in the face of adversity.
