Former Osun State Commissioner for Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Sir (Arc.) Muyiwa Ige, has declared his intention to contest for the position of 3rd Vice President of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), describing himself as the most qualified candidate for the job.
Arc. Ige, who is the son of the late Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige, made the declaration in a message to fellow architects ahead of the 2025 Biennial General Meeting (BGM) of the Institute.
Introducing himself as “your most preferred candidate,” Ige expressed confidence in his capacity to bring renewed vibrancy, visibility, and empowerment to the NIA, especially at the level of state chapters and subsidiaries.
“My vision as your 3rd Vice President, over and beyond the constitutional responsibilities, is to make the state chapters and subsidiaries more vibrant and visible as catalysts for growth and empowerment. We have a great future ahead, especially as we enter the next quarter of this glorious century toward 2050,” he said.
Ige maintained that the position of 3rd Vice President is not merely ceremonial but one that requires leadership charisma, a spirit of selfless service, and the ability to build bridges across generations and regions within the architectural profession. He pledged to bring these qualities to bear, adding that he represents both youthful energy and deep professional experience.
Outlining his campaign mission, Ige said his focus would be on Promoting Architecture (Instruction and Practice); Responsibility in Leadership; Collaboration for Empowerment; Inclusiveness and Innovation; Good Governance and Growth; and Excellence in Service.
He also listed specific goals he plans to achieve if elected, including establishing “One Chapter, One Secretariat,” strengthening collaboration between academic institutions and practitioners through “Town and Gown” partnerships, and fostering synergy with state and local governments to advance architectural practice nationwide.
“I will leverage my extensive network for the benefit of the Institute and empowerment of members,” he assured.
Calling on his colleagues to rally behind his ambition, Ige urged them to mobilize, register, and vote wisely during the forthcoming election scheduled for Saturday, November 29, 2025.
“The hour is near. I urge and encourage you to vote for me, Arc. Muyiwa Ige, FNIA, KSC, your candidate for the post of 3rd Vice President. I will not let you down,” he said.
