Max George, a member of the popular boyband The Wanted, has revealed he will spend Christmas in the hospital following the discovery of heart issues during recent medical tests.
The 36-year-old singer shared the news with fans on Instagram, posting a photo of himself giving a thumbs-up from his hospital bed. He disclosed that he had been admitted on Wednesday after feeling “really unwell.”
While details of his condition remain unclear, George stated he is awaiting further tests to determine the severity of the issues and the necessary surgical intervention.
“Although this is a huge shock and no doubt a setback, it’s something I’ll take on with all I’ve got,” the former Strictly Come Dancing star wrote.
He acknowledged the challenging weeks and months ahead, noting that “Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned.”
George expressed gratitude for the support of his partner, actress Maisie Smith, as well as his family and friends, saying, “I count myself very lucky that this was caught when it was.”
Messages of support poured in from friends and fellow celebrities. Siva Kaneswaran, George’s bandmate in The Wanted, commented, “Here for you brother. Rest up and get well soon.” JLS stars Marvin Humes and JB Gill also offered encouragement, with Humes assuring George of his strength to overcome the situation.
Max George gained fame as part of The Wanted in the early 2010s, alongside Kaneswaran, Nathan Sykes, Jay McGuiness, and the late Tom Parker. After the group took a hiatus in 2014, George and Kaneswaran reformed as a duo in 2022.
George’s fans are rallying around him as he faces this unexpected health challenge with resilience and determination.
