Lawmaker Urges Nigerian Youths To Accept FG’s Olive Branch, Cancel Planned Protest

Nigerian youths have been asked to accept the government’s measures and palliatives to prevent a national protest planned for August 1, 2024.

Making the plea via a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday, Hon. Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole, representing Ekiti North Federal Constituency II, warned that the protest could worsen Nigeria’s already fragile economy.

Mr Kolawole believes that the country’s problems can be solved peacefully without protests.

He praised President Bola Tinubu’s efforts, including distributing rice, grains, and fertilizers to help Nigerians, especially after the removal of fuel subsidies.

Kolawole emphasised the need for patience and cooperation with the government to address the current economic crisis.

He urged Nigerians to support and pray for their leaders, particularly President Tinubu, to help the country recover economically.

Kolawole also highlighted that the present economic issues were inherited from previous administrations.

While acknowledging the citizens’ right to demand better governance, he stressed the importance of maintaining democracy.

The lawmaker encouraged people to take advantage of the government’s distribution of subsidized rice and called for transparency in the distribution process.

He however assured that legislators would work with governors to ensure fair distribution and praised Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his fairness in handling federal aid.
