King Charles has been talking about possibly taking away Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal titles, according to sources.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s titles have caused issues since they stopped working as royals and moved to the US.
The Palace has received calls for the couple to lose their titles. Recently, King Charles and Prince William have had long discussions about this. They are worried that taking away the titles might make things worse.
During a tour in Nigeria, Harry and Meghan were happy to use their “Duke” and “Duchess” titles.
Royal expert Tom Quinn told the Mirror that the King and Prince William fear that removing the titles would give Harry and Meghan more to complain about. Even without the titles, Harry and Meghan would still be seen as royals by many people.
In 2020, when Harry and Meghan stopped being senior working royals, they kept their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles but were no longer called his or her royal highness.
This year, they emphasized their royal connection by launching a website called Sussex.com, using their titles and a coat of arms.
Despite the discussions, Mr. Quinn believes Charles is reluctant to strip their titles due to potential backlash. He reiterated that the King and Prince William are concerned about making the situation worse.
