JUST IN: Defected Lawmaker In Rivers Retraces Step, Returns to PDP

One of the 26 Peoples Democratic Party lawmakers earlier cross carpeted to All Progressives Congress, Hon. Linda Somari Stewart, has rejoined her former party.

Ms Stewart represents Okrika in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Since the 26 lawmakers, elected on the platform of PDP, announced their defection on the floor of the house, reasonable Nigerians have condemned their actions and have called on Independent National Electoral Commission to declare their seats vacant to allow bye election.

The lawmakers based their decision on the crisis in the leadership of PDP, regarding the National Secretary position.

WesternLifeNewsNG however understands that there is no crisis of leadership in the main opposition party both at the national and state levels.

Stewart’s decision to retrace her step is seen by many political pundits as a big minus to political status of Federal Capital Territory minister, Nyesom Wike, who is believed to be behind the whole episode.

Wike and the governor of the state, Sim Fubara have been in loggerhead over the control of the state affairs.

Stewart’s decision to rejoin the PDP clearly shows that Fubara is currently topping in the battle of wits with his benefactor.

This newspaper however gathered that, in the coming days ahead, at least five other lawmakers will return to PDP.
