Federal Judge Aileen M. Cannon, overseeing former President Donald J. Trump’s classified documents case, unexpectedly revised the schedule for hearings on Wednesday, adjusting the timing for discussions on several key legal issues.
While this change is not expected to significantly alter the overall direction of the case, it highlights the numerous unresolved legal motions Judge Cannon is handling.
Last month, she canceled the trial date, citing the “myriad and interconnected” questions she had yet to address as the reason for the delay in setting a new date.
Despite the schedule change, Judge Cannon maintained a June 21 hearing to address a motion from Trump’s legal team, which seeks to dismiss the indictment on the grounds that Special Counsel Jack Smith was unlawfully appointed.
