The Ibadan Mega Voice (IMV), an association of Ibadan natives in the communication industry, has expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the tragic incident that occurred during the Children’s Funfair at Islamic High School, Bashorun.
The association also extended solidarity to the injured and those affected, emphasizing that the grief of the bereaved families is shared by every member of IMV.
In a statement signed by its president, Aare Kola Olomide, the association commended the Oyo State Government for its swift response in managing the crisis and offering support to the affected families.
IMV acknowledged the ongoing investigation into the incident, which has seen the questioning and arrests of several individuals, including Olabode Anisoloja, a staff member of Agidigbo FM and an IMV member; Mr. Fasasi, the Principal of Islamic High School; Dr. Oriyomi Hamzat, who presented himself for questioning despite being hospitalized; and Queen Naomi, the event organizer.
The association urged authorities to conduct the investigation with fairness and respect for human rights, emphasizing that justice must be served through impartial and thorough processes.
Particular solidarity was expressed for Dr. Oriyomi Hamzat, a renowned advocate for children’s welfare and a committed IMV member.
The association noted Dr. Hamzat as a passionate humanitarian who has consistently championed the causes of the vulnerable through his platform at Agidigbo FM. His visible emotional distress over the incident underscores his deep empathy and dedication to children’s well-being.
IMV also cautioned against the spread of misinformation and the hasty assignment of blame, calling for unity and collaboration to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
“This is a time for shared sorrow and solutions, not division,” the statement noted.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the victims, promoting justice, and fostering compassion within the community during this difficult time.
