The Ibadan Solidarity Group, under the dynamic leadership of its President, Alhaji Ademola Ogunsesan, a chartered accountant, is setting a remarkable standard by emphasizing quality membership to drive productivity and social impact.
Speaking on the group’s vision, Alhaji Ogunsesan revealed that membership is intentionally selective, focusing on individuals with exceptional professional standing. This, he explained, creates a solid foundation for impactful collaborations and initiatives that benefit members and the larger society.
“Our members are drawn from diverse professions, including medicine, law, engineering, academia, and accountancy. This diversity has empowered us to build a formidable team capable of initiating and executing meaningful projects,” he stated.
Since his tenure began in April 2024, Alhaji Ogunsesan has spearheaded several ambitious projects, including a ₦7.2 million solar energy installation to reduce reliance on conventional power sources.
This initiative addresses the group’s operational energy needs, such as water pumping for its clubhouse. Another significant achievement under his administration is the ongoing construction of a state-of-the-art guest house, which is slated for completion before his tenure ends.
To ensure the group’s legacy, the leadership has implemented a succession plan that encourages members to bring their sons into the fold, fostering generational continuity.
Beyond the group’s internal achievements, Alhaji Ogunsesan has been vocal about Ibadan’s broader development. He highlighted the city’s historical significance and advocated for its recognition as a new state, emphasizing its overdue entitlement given its role as the administrative center of the defunct Western Region and a colonial hub for Yorubaland.
A man of integrity, Alhaji Ogunsesan has established transparency as a hallmark of his leadership. During weekly meetings, he ensures that members are fully informed about the group’s financial activities and expenditures, fostering trust and accountability.
A proud son of Ibadan, Alhaji Ogunsesan’s educational journey began at Ibadan and continued through Ladigbolu Grammar School in Oyo and the University of Ilorin, culminating in his qualification as a Chartered Accountant in 1993. He currently heads his consultancy firm, Ademola Ogunsesan & Co.
Reflecting on his leadership, Alhaji Ogunsesan expressed his desire to leave a legacy defined by integrity, accountability, and impactful contributions, ensuring the Ibadan Solidarity Group remains a beacon of excellence for years to come.
