The Ibadan Solidarity Group has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Engr. Sunday Makinde, the elder brother of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, who passed away on early Friday morning.
In a statement signed by the group’s president, Alhaji Ademola Ogunsesan, and released to newsmen in Ibadan on Saturday, the group extended its heartfelt condolences to the governor and his family, describing the loss as a painful blow to the Makinde family and the entire state.
The statement reads in part: “We are profoundly saddened by the news of the passing of Engr. Sunday Makinde, a man of great humility and exemplary character. His death is not only a loss to the Makinde family but also to the entire Ibadan and Oyo State, where his contributions to development and unity were well known.
“On behalf of the Ibadan Solidarity Group, we extend our deepest sympathies to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, and the entire Makinde family during this difficult time. We understand the depth of this loss and pray that Almighty God will comfort them, grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, and give Engr. Sunday Makinde eternal rest.”
The group urged the governor to remain strong in faith, noting that Engr. Sunday Makinde’s legacy would continue to inspire all those who knew him.
The Ibadan Solidarity Group reaffirmed its unwavering support for the governor and pledged to stand by him and his family during this period of grief.
