The founder of Hassan Olawale Giwa (HOG) Foundation, Arc (Dr.) Hassan Giwa has called on governments at all levels to build an education system that will give access to inclusive, lifelong and qualitative learning.
Arc Giwa made the call in a statement to commemorate the World Teachers’ Day on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
While congratulating the teachers on this year’s occasion, Asiwaju Adini Musulumi of Ibadan Land described teaching as the bedrock for other professions.
He said teachers serve as the only link with opportunities for the success of children and ultimate improvement of the social status of families.
The HOG Foundation founder maintained that he remains committed to the development of the teaching profession in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
Arc Giwa clarified that governments at all levels need to show more commitment by taking actions rather than making statements as far as welfare of teachers is concerned.
He urged governments (federal, state and local) to prioritize welfare of teachers, provide conducive environment for learning and necessary equipment to aid teaching and learning, saying that education is the only avenue to pass the country’s history and traditions from one generation to another.
Giwa, therefore, commended reachers in Nigeria, Oyo State and Ibadan in particular for their self-sacrificing service to the nation and humanity.
Every October 5 is set aside to celebrate World Teachers’ Day by UNESCO to celebrate teachers by honouring their insights and importance of their voice in education.
