Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has performed an oath of office on his close ally, Edison Ehie, as the new Chief of Staff.
Ehie, a former factional speaker of the state House of Assembly, resigned from his legislative position in December 2023.
The former lawmaker was sworn in along other five special advisers on Monday at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House
The special advisers are Darlington Oji, who resigned as the Chief of Staff to the Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Samuel Nwanosike, in the wake of the political crisis in Rivers State; Solomon Abel-Eke, the immediate past Chairman of Ohio/Akpor Local Government Area where the Wike comes from.
Others are, Prince Ohia, the immediate past Commissioner for Youths Development; Aminayanasam Fiberesima and Deeyah Bariene.
All the six appointees supported Governor Fubara during the political crisis in the state.
Thegovernor, however, urged them to set aside partisanship and contribute to the growth of the state.
Edison Ehie had in December communicated his decision to resign via a letter to the national chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Many linked the resignation to President Bola Tinubu’s involvement in the political dispute between the governor and Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
WesternlifenewsNG recalls that Ehie had in October 2023 assumed the role of Speaker of the Rivers Assembly amid internal house conflicts and efforts to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
