Fubara Says He’s Committed To  Probing Predecessor Wike, Asserts Integrity, Transparency

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminilaye Fubara, has clarified his decision to investigate his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Fubara, who served as Accountant-General during Wike’s administration, emphasised that his actions were conducted as a civil servant following approved directives from the former governor.

During the inauguration of Egbeda internal roads, Fubara addressed critics of the proposed probe, stating that he maintains comprehensive records of his financial transactions under the previous administration.

He assured that these records demonstrate his adherence to approved protocols.

The governor expressed confidence in his documented activities, declaring, “What we bring to our people is service delivery at record time and cost-effective. Everything we are doing is in my white paper. I carry it along. There is no issue of any manipulation. Call me any day, any time, it is there.”

He reiterated his readiness to respond to any inquiries, highlighting the importance of record-keeping in his role as a civil servant. “I am not scared of anything. Anybody who calls me up any day, any time, I have my records to show. I have all the approvals to show that I acted based on approvals and not personal decisions,” Fubara stated.

In a related development, a High Court in Port-Harcourt has halted the extension of tenure for local government chairmen.

Fubara commended the contractor for timely completion of the road project and praised the local community for their cooperation.

He noted that his administration, having only started making governance decisions in February, has already demonstrated significant progress and aims to achieve more within his term.
