In a heartwarming celebration that blended faith, scholarship, and destiny, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Dr. Mrs Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe on Saturday, 21st February 2026, joined faithfuls, family members, friends, and well wishers to witness the Holy Solemnization of the incumbent SUG Vice President, Miss Ogbonna Esther and her beloved, a fellow student and President of the Joint Campus Christian Fellowship (JCCF), Pastor Brown Jeremiah.

The sacred ceremony held at Salvation Ministries was a glowing testament that true love can be found, nurtured, and solemnized even within the walls of academic pursuit.

Both families, from Ebonyi State and Rivers State, gathered in unity of purpose, while the reception later radiated joy within the Federal Polytechnic community in Imo State, turning the academic environment into a theatre of celebration.

When Two Students Found Purpose in Each Other
It is often said that universities and polytechnics are not only centres for intellectual development but also arenas where destiny helpers meet.
For these two young leaders, what began as shared values in faith, leadership, and service gradually blossomed into a bond rooted in commitment and vision.

Two students, while still pursuing their academic dreams, found love, and not merely affection, but a partnership anchored in faith, responsibility, and purpose. They did not allow campus romance to distract them; rather, they transformed companionship into covenant and courtship into commitment.

Their union stands as proof that: Love in school can be purposeful; Leadership and relationship can coexist; and Academic pursuit and emotional maturity can grow side by side.

Dr.Igbokwe Celebrate the Couple
In her congratulatory remarks, the Rector stated: “Today, we celebrate not just a wedding, but a testimony. These young leaders have demonstrated that discipline, faith, and vision can guide relationships even within the academic environment.

“Let this union remind our students that love must never derail your destiny; it must strengthen it. Build relationships on character, mutual respect, and shared purpose.* *Your education must remain your foundation, and any relationship you nurture must add value to your future.”

She further advised students to prioritize academic excellence; choose partners who respect your vision; avoid distractions disguised as affection; and let faith, integrity, and patience guide your relationships.

A Union That Inspires
The marriage of the SUG Vice President and the JCCF President is symbolic. It speaks to:
– Responsible youth leadership
– Moral grounding in campus life
– The possibility of finding life partners through shared values
– This was not merely a wedding. It was a statement.
– A statement that love in school need not be reckless.
– A statement that faith can anchor youthful affection.
– A statement that tomorrow’s homes are being built in today’s classrooms.

The campus stood not merely as a backdrop, but as a witness, a silent partner in the love story written within its lecture halls and fellowship gatherings.
