Former Beauty Queen Surrenders To NDLEA After Eight Months On the Run

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has confirmed that former beauty queen, Oluwadamilola Aderinoye, has surrendered to its Lagos command after evading arrest for eight months.

Aderinoye, who held the title of Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture in 2015/2016, had been declared wanted by the agency following a raid on her Lekki apartment on January 24, 2024.

According to a statement released by NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, during the raid, operatives recovered 606 grams of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, along with an electronic weighing scale, large quantities of drug packaging materials, and a black RAV 4 SUV.

Aderinoye, also known as Ms. Queen Christmas, reportedly escaped during the raid and had been hiding in Akure, Ondo State, until she turned herself in on August 28, 2024.

In a related operation, NDLEA operatives made significant drug seizures at the Port Harcourt Port Complex and Tincan Seaport in Lagos.

These included 31,124,600 tramadol pills and large quantities of codeine-based syrup, with a street value exceeding N17.9 billion.

The seizures were made following intelligence on the movement of shipments from India, leading to joint examinations with the Nigerian Customs Service.

In Lagos, another suspect, Mustapha Ibrahim, was arrested on August 26 with 1,122 kilograms of cannabis.

NDLEA operatives also made arrests and drug seizures in Niger and Bauchi states, further demonstrating the agency’s commitment to combating drug trafficking across the country.
