PRESS CONFERENCE PRECEEDING 96TH ANNUAL GENERAL CONFERENCE OF THE SACRED CHERUBIM AND SERAPHIM CHURCH OF NIGERIA (A.K.A. SACRED C&S CHURCH OF NIGERIA AND OVERSEAS)
Gentlemen of the Press (I feel more comfortable to saying “members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm), it is my pleasure to welcome you all to this press briefing to usher in the 96th Annual General Conference of my great Church, The Sacred Cherubim and Seraphim Church of Nigeria (a.k.a Sacred C&S Church of Nigeria and overseas) holding here at our General Headquarters, Ibadan from Friday16th January to Saturday 17th January 2026.
Ibadan as a city holds an important position in the Political history of our nation. It is the capital of the then Western Region, the first Region to secure independence from colonial British Empire and thus facilitating eventual independence for Nigeria on October 1, 1960!
Please, permit me to take you further on the historical journey.
The Sacred C&S Church of Nigeria has its root from seven towns that were not in rebellion with St. Moses Orimolade Tunolase in 1929 at the onset of a rift with his first fruit of his evangelistic efforts which began in 1916 from Ikare. He had prior to 1925 established just prayer houses in many places from Ikare and thence before arriving Ago osofin Lagos where later in 1925 his evangelistic travels were divinely named “Seraphim” on 9th September 1925. ‘’Cherubim’’ was later added to give rise to Cherubim and Seraphim as an identity. It makes sense, therefore to conclude that 1925 is our christening year. This becomes obvious since at least one of the seven towns where St. Moses Orimolade established a fellowship prayer house, El-Bethel celebrated its 100 years of founding in December, 1925.
We were named in September, 1925 exactly 9years from when St. Moses Orimolade began his mission. Therefore in Yoruba mythology, C&S is a male. This explains why females are not allowed to sit in the altar. Another proof that C&S was born earlier is the fact that C&S is the first African Pentecostal Church in Nigeria, the CAC is the second which celebrated its centenary in 2018.
It is arising from the foregoing that The Sacred C&S Church and many others recognised St. Moses Orimolade Tunolase as the sole founder of C&S! I am therefore proud to be a member of The Sacred C&S Church.
The current pre-occupation of any Seraph is to have a one- virile united Cherubim and Seraphim Church as an undivided Christian Denomination and the base is very much on ground via the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria with its Headquarters at klm 40 Lagos-Ibadan Express Way. I am happy to be part of it.
Who We Are
With this year`s Conference theme “Preach The Gospel” we will continue to be in the fore front of obsession to ensure the much needed one united, indivisible Cherubim and Seraphim Church under one Shepard to fulfill the dream of the Founder.
Since the C&S Unification finally set sail in 1986 with the installation of the first Supreme Head, our beloved mother, late Captain Abiodun Emmanuel, a lot has been achieved and we are proud of the modest achievements, one of which is putting aside prejudice arising from ignorance or self –imposed refusal to see the divine mission of Cherubim and Seraphim as the last ark of Noah, the first African Pentecostal Organisation and for various reasons, role model in the Christendom. This becomes more evident when one compares our mode of service with various other Churches in the last twenty years or so! Admittedly, there are some bad eggs in our mist as they abound elsewhere. But we remain a denomination to be reckoned with notwithstanding crass ignorance of most fanatical critics. I am proud to be a Seraph, particularly as a member of The Sacred C&S Church, a mother Church within the C&S Unification Church of Nigeria.
We will now devote our energies to sanitise the sanitisable!
Our Nation
It would be self-illusion for any Nigerian both the leadership and followership to say that all is well, socially, economy-wise, healthcare-wise, welfare-wise, politics-wise, security wise. All the “wises” are pointers of a very difficult future. The political class seemingly lacks integrity and/ or morality. This is our major problem.
The killer diseases are multiplying. Urgent actions are now required more than ever before. I recommend the following:
On Current Insecurity
It would be naive to expect to defeat the armed bandits militarily because I believe very firmly that the bandits have their sympertisers in all our security agencies, in and outside governments and foreign Countries and I believe Mr. President is not unaware of this.
Recommendations
(1) Putting in place State and Local Police force should be our immediate priority. This would curb influx of unknown and likely criminal elements undetected from other communities.
(2) Ensure that commissioners of Police and D.P.O at all our Police Stations are indigene of each State or town. This should work because such officer is unlikely to compromise the safety of his/her own town’s men and women.
(3) Enforce to the letters, the Anti-open grazing law to ensure the safety of farmers and thence food security to avoid famine.
Threats To Indivisible One Nigeria
(i) Legislate Against God-Fatherism to ensure good governance.
(ii) Re-structure of the Federation by converting the present 6 Geo Political Zones into States and all States therein into Provinces. This would reduce the cost of governance. Creation of States is anti-infrastructural developments.
(iii) Reduce the cost of running a-two chambers Legislature by giving each State a reduced number of equal representatives regardless of the size of the geographical area.
(iv) Devolve more powers to the States to reduce unhealthy competition for power at the centre.
Religious Division
Unless urgent steps are taken, the current worsening security situation may lead us into serious consequences. A Situation where a secular State allows two different laws that is, penal code in the South and sharia law (an Islamic law) in the North is a recipe for a division. I am not sure if it is not true that our constitution mentions ‘’Islam’’ and ‘’sharia’’ so many times without a mention of Christianity or other Traditional faiths.
Corruption
Unless we kill corruption, corruption will kill this Country! Corruption breeds disobedience of laws to govern the conduct of the led and the leaders. Disobedience of court judgment is injustice and is a bye product of corruption. Disobedience of traffic laws for our safety is a bye product of corruption on the part of traffic enforcement agencies. Again, driving against wrong way or an unlatched container falling off a truck is a bye product of corruption!
In my opinion, the fight against corruption must begin with the politicians, take for example, the constituency allowances being paid to our law makers, impeachment process, the law enforcement agents, the judiciary, and our learned men and women in wigs. If these channels are zero corruption tolerance, the tree of corruption would stand uprooted.
I say no more!
Thank you for your attention.
