As part of the institution’s ongoing Digitally-Bridged Campus Initiative, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Dr. Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, on Thursday, 24th July, 2025, led a comprehensive inspection tour to assess the operational readiness of the newly deployed Time Attendance Device (TAD) system across the campus.

According to a release from the Office of the Special Assistant to the Rector on Media Matters, the tour was aimed to evaluate the functionality, ease of use, and user experience of the fingerprint-based attendance system, ahead of its full implementation and official commissioning scheduled for August 2025.
During the exercise, several staff were seen successfully clocking in using their enrolled fingerprints. For those yet to complete biometric enrollment, a final capturing session has been scheduled for Monday, 28th July, 2025.
To support seamless usage, each clocking station is now equipped with instructional posters and a QR code linking to a short help video, designed to guide staff through the clock-in process and encourage full adoption.
The Rector described the TAD system as “a key pillar in our push for smart accountability and digital transformation,” reaffirming management’s commitment to leveraging technology for enhanced staff management.
Speaking during the tour, Dr. Emeagi emphasized the TAD platform’s core benefits, including: Real-time attendance monitoring; Enhanced compliance tracking; On-demand support and training resources.
This initiative represents another milestone in the institution’s drive toward accountability, operational excellence, and global best practices in digital higher education management.
