Upon assuming office less than four months ago, the 9th Substantive Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede (Fedpolynek), Dr. Mrs. Basilia Igbokwe, was confronted with a major challenge: over 50,000 students had yet to be mobilized for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Determined to resolve this longstanding issue, her administration swiftly took action to address the backlog.

During a recent courtesy visit by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the Rector invited the institution’s Deputy Director of Admissions, Mr. Victor Irechukwu, to provide an update on the mobilization process.

He reported that 80% of the backlog had been successfully cleared following the resolution of technical issues affecting student data uploads to the JAMB platform.

He assured that the remaining 20% would be addressed soon and commended Dr. Igbokwe for her relentless commitment to resolving the issue.

In her remarks, the Rector acknowledged Mr. Irechukwu’s dedication, highlighting his efforts in re-uploading over 50,000 student records. She also revealed that tackling the mobilization challenge required multiple engagements with JAMB and NYSC officials in Abuja within her short tenure.

She proudly announced to the NANS delegation that Fedpolynek graduates were now being mobilized for national service.
