In a significant virtual meeting, prominent elites from Esanland have united in endorsing Barrister Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, as their preferred choice for the Edo State governorship.
The meeting, which involved a detailed evaluation of both Dr. Ighodalo and his counterpart from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Monday Okpebholo, concluded with a unanimous decision in favor of Ighodalo.
Dr. Ighodalo’s comprehensive manifesto, which aligns with the aspirations of Esanland, was the driving force behind the endorsement.
His key proposals focus on improving education, enhancing security, fostering economic growth, and creating job opportunities for the youth. Notably, his plans to integrate technology into agriculture, provide clean water, and develop infrastructure were seen as pivotal to the region’s economic resurgence.
Additionally, Dr. Ighodalo’s commitment to inclusive governance, including the promotion of tourism and collaboration with Esan indigenes in the diaspora, further cemented his support among the elites.
The group, led by Dr. Elizabeth Okoruwa Okojie, President and Coordinating Director of the Esan4Esan Global Support League, also called on Senator Monday Okpebholo to gracefully step down from the gubernatorial race and continue his legislative work.
They emphasised that both candidates are esteemed sons of Esanland and urged for a peaceful resolution to avoid conflict within the community.
In a symbolic gesture, Esan citizens from around the world plan to send letters to Senator Okpebholo, appealing for his cooperation in this crucial moment for Esan unity.
The Esan4Esan Global Support League looks forward to celebrating Dr. Ighodalo’s success as Edo State’s next governor, believing his leadership will usher in a new era of progress for the region
