A domestic worker of Aribemchukwu, the late daughter of Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, has confessed to being involved in her murder, a police source revealed on Thursday.
Aribemchukwu, affectionately known as Chuchu, was reportedly killed at her Parkview Estate residence in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State.
While family sources indicated she was murdered on Tuesday night, her body was found outside the gate of her residence on Wednesday morning.
Following the discovery, three of her domestic employees—the house help, a security guard, and a driver—were arrested in connection with the crime. During interrogation, the house help admitted to the murder.
According to an anonymous police source, the deceased was killed in her room, and her body was subsequently dragged outside the gate to create the impression that she was killed there.
The suspects attempted to clean the blood stains but missed some spots due to the act being carried out at night.
“The deceased was killed in her room and her body was dragged to the front of the gate to make it look like she was killed on the spot. After that, all the blood stains were carefully cleaned but still, they missed some spots. They did not clean it well because it happened at night,” the Punch newspaper quoted a source.
The house help reportedly did not deny the crime, confessing during interrogation with the words, “We do am, na we do am,” which aligned with the evidence.
The three suspects who were employed just a week prior to the incident, were allegedly packed all the valuables of the deceased after the murder.
