The Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed treason charges against 119 #EndBadGovernance protesters, including 32 minors, following a directive from President Bola Tinubu.
The protesters, arrested after demonstrations against economic hardship, were accused of inciting mutiny and calling for military intervention.
During proceedings, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), empowered by Section 174 of the 1999 Constitution, took over the case and requested to discontinue it.
Defense counsel Femi Falana supported the AGF’s decision, and Justice Egwuatu struck out the charges, ordering the protesters’ release.
The move followed public outrage over the defendants’ poor health conditions observed during their arraignment.
