Coalition Of CSOs Mourns Demises Of Akeredolu, Na’Abba

The passing away of Ondo state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN and a former speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’Abba have been described as devastating blows to Nigeria as a nation.

In a statement signed by Comrade Awa Bamiji, the National Coordinator, Coalition of Pro – Democracy Groups for A Better Nigeria, both were described as statesmen, whose contributions to Nigeria’s democracy are invaluable.

Akeredolu and Na’Abba died on Wednesday at the age of 67 years and 65 years, respectively.

The statement read, “The International Community of Civil Societies has just been thrown into mourning by the deaths of two key figures in Nigeria, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, 67, Executive Governor of Ondo State, who succumbed to cold arm of death early hours of Wednesday, at a German Hospital, where he was receiving treatment for his double ailments, leukemia and prostrate cancer, both of which incapacitated him for several months.

“Also, Rt. (Hon) Ghali Na’Abba, who represented Kano Municipal Federal Constituency between 1999 and 2023 and later became the Speaker, House of Representatives after resignation of Rt. (Hon) Salisu Buhari, died in Abuja this morning after his long battle with ailment.

“Adieu, Aketi. Adieu, Na’Abba!” the statement concluded.
