Manchester City’s midfield maestro Rodri has been awarded the prestigious Ballon d’Or, becoming the first Spaniard in 64 years to receive the honor.
His triumph marks a standout season both with his club and on the international stage, where he played a pivotal role in helping Manchester City clinch their fourth consecutive Premier League title and led Spain to victory at Euro 2024.
Rodri, a commanding presence in City’s midfield, emerged victorious over competitors including Vinicius Junior, who, along with his Real Madrid teammates, skipped the ceremony upon learning of his runner-up status.
Despite Vinicius’s absence, the spotlight was firmly on Rodri, who remained integral to City’s domestic success, including an FA Cup final appearance, and was named Player of the Tournament in Spain’s Euros victory.
