The Adamawa State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aisha “Binani” Dahiru, has withdrawn a suit she filed before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja challenging the victory of the incumbent Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri.
The presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, dismissed the suit on Wednesday at the court session following a notice of discontinuance filed by Binani through her lawyer.
Binani was illegally declared as the winner of the state’s governorship supplementary election conducted on March 18 by the suspended Resident Electoral Commission, Barrister Yunusa Ari.
The declaration was declared null, void and of no effect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Mr Fintiri had since been officially declared by the INEC as the winner of the election.
But Binani had sought leave of the court to file an ex parte application seeking an order of the court restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from
invalidating her declaration as the winner of the governorship election by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa-Ari.
