The Asiwaju Adini Musulumi of Ibadanland, Arc (Dr.) Hassan Olawale Giwa has congratulated the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin 1st, who ascended the throne on Friday, July 12, 2024.
Mr Giwa, in a statement, described the ascension of the throne of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the outcome of enduring tradition and resilience of the Ibadan monarchical system.
The monarch received the Staff of and Instrument Office from the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde at the ancient Mapo Hill today in Ibadan, the state capital.
The coronation was attended by the President, who was represented by the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Sultan of Sokoto, Sheik Sa’ad Abubakar, Ooni of Ife, Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, prominent traditional rulers and sons and daughters of Ibadanland from every walk of life.
Asiwaju Adini disclosed that the wealth of experience of the new Olubadan of Ibadanland will bring peace and meaningful development to Ibadan, Oyo State and Nigeria in general.
“It is my belief that the time of the new Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin 1st will bring peace and development to Ibadan and Oyo State as a whole.
“Oba Olakulehin has paid his due by climbing the Ibadan chieftaincy ladder for the record of 38 years when he became the Mogaji of Olakulehin Royal Family before fate thrust him to the zenith of the ladder.
The founder of Hassan Olawale Giwa (HOG) Foundation, said the confirmation of the new Olubadan by the Olubadan-in-Council and approval by the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has once again proved the uniqueness of Ibadan tradition and rotational chieftaincy system.
“I want to congratulate my father and the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin 1st, on his ascension as the 43nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
“I pray for a long, eventful and successful reign for the new Olubadan, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin 1st, on his ascension as the 43nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.”
Mr Giwa also congratulated all the indigenes of Ibadan, home and abroad on the coronation of the new Olubadan of Ibadanland.
He solicited for the support and cooperation for the new Olubadan from the Olubadan-in-Council, Ibadan Council of Elders, Council of Mogajis, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes and the entire Ibadan indigenes for the new Olubadan to have a successful reign.
Asiwaju Adinni Musulumi, thereafter, prayed that the time and reign of the new Olubadan brings peace, joy, happiness and unparalleled prosperity to all and sundry in Ibadan and Oyo State by extension.
