When the sun breaks over the skyline of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, it touches a campus that has, for decades, mastered the art of reinventing itself. From award-winning departments to trailblazing administrators, Nekede has grown into more than an institution, it has become a national reference point for academic innovation and leadership.
And once again, the institution has stepped into the limelight.
A New Feather in Nekede’s Crown
The academic community across Nigeria felt a ripple of admiration on 13th November 2025, when Dr . A. C. Madu JP, the institution’s Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, emerged as Pro-Tem Chairman of the Association of Directors of Academic Planning in Nigerian Polytechnics, TVET and Allied Institutions (CODAPP).

The venue, NBTE Hall of Fame, Kaduna, became the stage for a moment that would further elevate the institution’s growing influence in national discourse on quality assurance and academic planning.
His emergence was more than a professional milestone; it was a testament to Federal Polytechnic Nekede’s strategic commitment to excellence.
Leadership That Speaks Loudly Without Shouting
For Dr. (Mrs.) Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, the announcement was nothing short of a poetic affirmation of her administration’s vision. Calm in demeanor but compelling in leadership, she received the news with satisfaction, describing the development as a “ national endorsement of the institution’s academic strength and leadership quality.”
Her 11-Point Agenda, anchored on visibility, staff development, quality assurance, and academic brilliance, finds clear expression in this national recognition.

In her words, the achievement positions Federal Polytechnic Nekede _“at the center of academic planning and quality assurance discussions nationwide.”
Moments That Captured the Nation’s Attention
The Kaduna ceremony delivered several symbolic highlights. Foremost was the handshake between Dr. Madu and Prof. Idris M. Bugaje, Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). More than a greeting, it was a gesture that sealed a renewed partnership and shared commitment to strengthening academic planning across Nigeria.
The spotlight would return to Dr. Madu moments later, this time as one of the three national resource persons presenting topical papers, an eloquent display of the intellectual weight Federal Polytechnic Nekede carries into national academic conversations.
A Tradition of Excellence That Doesn’t Dim
Back at Nekede, the news sparked a celebration marked not by noise, but by pride. Staff whispered congratulations; students shared the announcement across social platforms; administrators saw in the victory a reinforcement of the institution’s identity, a campus where excellence is not occasional, but habitual.
The Management reiterated its unwavering commitment to fostering staff development and national visibility, ensuring Nekede remains a beacon of academic leadership.
With this achievement, Federal Polytechnic Nekede does more than shine, it illuminates the path for others.
