The law firm of Afe Babalola & Co. has filed a 90-page petition with the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee seeking the removal of lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi from the roll of Nigerian legal practitioners.
Signed by partner Ola Faro, the petition accuses Farotimi of professional misconduct, including making false corruption allegations against the judiciary and senior legal professionals in his book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.
Farotimi allegedly engaged in unethical practices, including bribing judicial officers and disrespecting the Supreme Court.
Farotimi’s book has been banned by court orders, and he faces charges of defamation and cyberbullying.
He was recently arraigned in Ekiti State and remanded in prison, following accusations that the book defamed Afe Babalola and other senior advocates by alleging judicial corruption.
