The ongoing 2023 Ace Supermarket Unity Cup competition in Oyo town has entered the crucial knockout stage.
This follows the conclusion of group stage hostilities which was rounded up on Tuesday at St Bernardine’s Girls Grammar School, Oyo.
In some of the round 16 fixtures set to take off by Saturday, 3rd February, 2024, defending Champions, Castle FC will take on fans favourite, Oyo’A FC in arguably the star match of the series while Rehoboth FC will lock horns with Spectrum FC in another fixture.
High riding White Lions FA of Afijio will take on former Champions, Winners FC, who won the maiden edition in 2021 while last year’s finalists, Alatede United FC will tango with Mansa FC in another exciting match.
All the round of 16 games would hold at St Bernardine’s Grammar School sports field with the tournament moving to Durbar Stadium, Oyo from the quarter final stage.
Consequently, qualified teams with shortage of the required 22 registered players will have the opportunity to beef up their teams with five (5) new players. While those who have completed the required 22 will have the chance to bring in five (5 ) new players to swap with five (5) already registered who may be injured, unavailable or unproductive.
According to the organisers, “All the additional players brought forward must be under 21 and will pass through normal screening process on Wednesday 31st January, 2024 at Durbar Stadium, Oyo by 4pm prompt for interested teams alone “
