Court Nullifies Creation of 33 LCDAs In Ondo State, Declares Action Unconstitutional

An Ondo State High Court in Akure has invalidated the establishment of 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) created by the late former governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu.

The court ruled the LCDAs illegal, citing the unconstitutional nature of the LG Creation Law 2023, which Akeredolu signed in Ibadan, outside Ondo State’s jurisdiction.

Justice A.O Adebusuoye delivered the judgment, declaring the law “null and void.” Consequently, the court halted the inauguration of caretaker chairmen for the LCDAs, pending further legal proceedings.
