In the face of adversity, actress Shannen Doherty continues to navigate her battle with stage 4 breast cancer with remarkable resilience and optimism.
In a recent episode of her podcast, “Let’s Be Clear,” the former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star shared a breakthrough in her ongoing health journey that she’s hailing as nothing short of a “miracle.”
Doherty, 52, expressed her newfound hope for the future, unveiling the positive results of a recent cancer treatment that has defied expectations.
The actress revealed that she’s on a new cancer infusion, and despite initial uncertainties, perseverance has paid off.
Speaking with her radiation oncologist, Dr. Amin Mirhadi, she explained, “After the sixth or seventh treatment, we really saw it breaking down the blood-brain barrier.”
Describing the impact of this development as a “miracle,” Doherty emphasized, “For me, that happens to be a miracle right now. That I sort of rolled the dice and said, ‘Let’s keep going.'”
While keeping the details of her treatment private, the actress remains positive about the results, saying, “That it’s actually breaking down that blood-brain barrier is actually a miracle of that drug, a miracle of maybe God intervening and saying, ‘I’m gonna give her a break.'”
Throughout her nine-year journey with cancer, Shannen Doherty has been open and candid about her experiences.
Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, she achieved remission in 2017, only to face a recurrence as stage 4 in 2019.
Last year, the cancer metastasized to her brain and bones, adding another layer to her already challenging battle.
In her podcast, she reflects on various aspects of her life, including career highlights, relationships, and the different stages of her illness.
Her aim is to raise awareness and funds for cancer research, emphasizing that individuals with terminal cancer can still make significant contributions to the world.
Despite the turbulence of 2023, marked by brain surgery and personal challenges, Shannen maintains a positive attitude.
On the Dec. 25 episode of her podcast, she shared, “With all of that, I was actually saying this to myself the other night, ‘God, I think I’m actually starting to live the happiest version of myself.’
