… charges mothers to make welfare of their children as major priority
The wife of the Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Alhaja Alirat Folashade Adepoju has enjoined mothers to take the welfarism of their children as major priority, regardless of any odds.
She disclosed this at Ori Eru Primary health care center, Ori-Eru and Oniiyanrin Primary Health centre, Inalende, Ibadan where she visited the babies of the year and presented them with gift items and cash donations.
According to her, babies are free gift from God, hence adequate attention and necessary provisions must be made for their growth and upliftment.
While congratulating the mothers of the new born babies, Mrs Adepoju implored them to lay a good foundation for their children and follow all post natal instructions in taking care of their babies, which including exclusive breastfeeding for six months, routine immunization for babies and regular intake of balance diet by the nursing mothers.
These according to the chairperson will give both the babies and mothers enough immunity against any infections.
In the meantime, the Chairperson appreciated Oyo state governor, Engr Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde and his amiable wife, Mrs Olufunke Makinde for their initiatives in organizing programs that would improve the health of mothers and children, particularly towards reducing maternal and child deaths from preventable causes.
She further appreciated her husband, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Alh AbdulRahman Olanrewaju Adepoju for his unflinching supports in making her programs for women in the council a reality.
The first baby of the year, who was a boy was delivered on January 1, 2024 at Ori Eru Primary Health care center at exactly 9:45 am, weighed 3.3kg while the second baby who was also a boy was delivered on January 2, 2024 at Oniyanrin Primary Health centre, inalende at 5:20pm with a body weight of 3.1kg .
The two babies were given gift items and cash donations, while other babies in the wards at Oniiyanrin Primary Health centre were given cash gifts by the Chairperson, Mrs Alirat Adepoju.
The mothers of the new year babies Mrs Tawakalitu Siyanbola and Mrs Adenike Ibrahim appreciated the chairperson for putting smiles on their faces in the new year. They prayed to God to replenish her pocket.
In their separate remarks, the matron of Ori-Eru Primary Health Centre, Mrs A. J. Adeleke and her counterpart from Oniiyanrin Primary Health centre, Mrs R. O. Oladoyinbo appreciated the kind gestures of the chairperson towards the family of the new born babies.
Theyurged the mothers to follow all post natal instructions given to them for the benefits of the babies and themselves.
Alhaja Adepoju prays to God to grant mothers and babies good health while the fathers continue to have the means to support their families.
