Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has appointed the former factional Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, as his new Chief of Staff.
Ehie, a core loyalist of the governor resigned his position and membership of the state house of assembly on Sunday.
The lawmaker, who represented Ahoada-East Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly replaced the Chief of Staff, Hon. Chidi Amadi, who is a kinsman to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
Until this new development, there has been a speculation in the state of what becomes the fate of the former speaker after his “double” resignation.
This is inspite of the fact there was no clause in the resolutions, signed by warring parties during the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in the political crisis in Rivers state, directing him to vacate the house.
Meanwhile, while many analysts see the appointment of Ehie as a reward of loyalty, others believe that the development is a slap in face of the former governor, Nyesom Wike, who is widely believed to have appointed the former chief of staff for the governor.
