Efon Alaaye Attack Update: Victims Petition Ekiti CP, Seek Immediate Arrest, Prosecution of Karounwi, Others

Following the attack on some Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in Efon Alaaye allegedly perpetrated by a group of political thugs led by one Gbenga Oluwafemi popularly known as Owolesu who is currently being remanded at a Correctional Service in Ado Ekiti, the victims have written a petition to Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, seeking arrest and prosecution of the alleged perpetrators of destardly attack.

The victims which include a businessman Chief Bode Olayinka (BOS) and his two siblings namely Mr Olaitan Olayinka and Mrs Jumoke Oladaye, also led to destruction of  properties and goods worth millions of Naira.

A copy of the petition made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, demanded the Police to arrest and prosecute other accused persons which include Hon. Oladapo Karounwi, Gbenga Oluwafemi, Blessing Oluwafemi, Kayode Babalola (Kayode Jako), Kunle Oluwadare (Stainless), Femi Okeya, Aderogba Adeboki (Aboki), Ojo Oladapo (Ojo Karounwi), Debodun Oladapo (Baloo), Isaacs Adelowo, Korede Ojo and Oye Oyewole.

Some of the allegations being levelled against them include; attempted murder, assault occassioning grievous bodily harm, armed robbery and malicious destruction of goods and properties.

The attack on July 31st, 2023 was not unconnected with an alleged attempt by a group said to be loyal to a former Deputy Speaker and Commissioner Designate in Ekiti State, Hon. Oladapo Karounwi  to impose their preferred candidates in Efon Alaaye Local government  aheado the local government election coming up in December this year.
