Re-elected Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has dedicated his victory in Saturday’s governorship election to the people of the state, promising to consolidate his achievements and accelerate development during his second term.
Adeleke, who spoke at a press conference after his victory, thanked the people of Osun for renewing their confidence in his administration, describing their support as a demonstration of their commitment to democracy.
He assured the people that he would not disappoint them, promising to strengthen areas where his administration had performed well while correcting its shortcomings.
“As you have trusted me again for the second time in office, I will not disappoint you. To serve you better, I will reinforce my strong points and correct my errors,” he said.
The governor said Osun would witness accelerated development and economic growth under his renewed five-point agenda, stressing that his administration would expand its development programmes and widen the scope of good governance across the state.
Adeleke also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his support for a free and fair election in the state.
The governor further reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election, describing the President as a “son of Osun State.”
He also thanked Nigerians at home and abroad, political supporters and lovers of democracy who, according to him, supported his campaign and struggle for good governance.
Adeleke particularly appreciated the media for its coverage of the election and its role in promoting democracy.
“My faith in democracy is deepened. Most importantly, I thank the media who stood by me, by us. The constant coverage in support of democracy emboldened us. We are grateful,” he said.
The governor extended an olive branch to his fellow contestants, saying the election should not be seen as a contest that produced winners and losers.
“In this race, there is no victor, no vanquished. I extend my olive branch to my co-contestants. I am the governor of all Osun citizens,” Adeleke said.
He outlined his broader vision of transforming Osun from a predominantly civil service state into an industrial state and a major investment destination.
“Osun State is on the march again. We shall expand development and widen the tent of good governance,” he said.
Adeleke congratulated the people of Osun State and supporters of good governance for the outcome of the election, adding that his administration would focus on building a more prosperous state.
He concluded by expressing confidence in the future of Osun State and reaffirming his faith in God.
