The Oyo State Coordinator of the JDS/PBAT Movement, Mogaji Igbinsola Sunday Paul, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election is conducted in a peaceful, transparent and credible manner.
Igbinsola, in a statement released on Tuesday, and made available to journalists in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, urged the President to uphold democratic values by ensuring that eligible voters in the state are allowed to freely exercise their constitutional rights without intimidation, harassment or undue influence.
He said the people of Osun State deserved an election in which their votes would count and the eventual outcome would reflect their genuine choice.
According to him, as supporters of the Tinubu administration and believers in democratic ideals, members of the JDS/PBAT Movement were confident that the President would continue to support an electoral process that is independent, transparent and credible.
Igbinsola also called on security agencies, political parties, candidates and other stakeholders involved in the election to act responsibly before, during and after the poll.
He cautioned against violence, intimidation, manipulation and voter suppression, stressing that the election should provide a level playing field for all political parties and candidates.
“Our appeal is simple: let the people of Osun State speak through their votes, and let their votes be respected,” he said.
The JDS/PBAT Movement coordinator stressed that a free and fair election should not be seen as a favour to any political party or candidate, but as a fundamental right of the people and a responsibility to Nigeria’s democracy.
He consequently called for peace, fairness, transparency and credible leadership, declaring that the people of Osun State should be allowed to freely determine their political future through the ballot.
