The Southwest Zonal Leader of the ACCORD Party, Mogaji Igbinsola Sunday Paul, has urged party members across Oyo State and beyond to remain united, hopeful, and committed despite the recent court judgment affecting the party.
In a statement titled “The Mandate of the People Remains Sacred,” Igbinsola acknowledged concerns arising from the court ruling but assured members that the party remains steadfast and will pursue all legal avenues available within the constitutional framework.
According to him, while ACCORD respects the judiciary and the rule of law, the party’s legal team is prepared to explore all lawful options to protect the interests of the party and its candidates.
“The mandate freely given to our candidates during the party primaries was not bestowed by any court but by the members and stakeholders of our great party,” he said.
“That mandate remains a symbol of the confidence and trust reposed in our candidates by the people.”
The party chieftain called on candidates, aspirants, leaders, and supporters not to allow the development to weaken their resolve or distract them from the party’s mission of delivering purposeful leadership and good governance.
He stressed that the ideals of ACCORD—justice, equity, accountability, and people-centered leadership—remain intact despite the current challenges, adding that history has shown that determined political movements often emerge stronger from difficult moments.
Igbinsola further appealed to members to remain peaceful and law-abiding while continuing efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures across wards, local governments, and zones.
“This moment calls for unity, patience, and unwavering commitment to our collective vision,” he stated. “The journey toward a better future for our people is still on course. Together, we shall overcome every challenge and actualize the mandate entrusted to our candidates by party members during the primaries.”
The statement comes amid growing reactions within the party following the court’s decision, with leaders seeking to reassure supporters that the party remains focused on its political objectives and future engagements.
He concluded by urging members to remain steadfast in their support for the party, expressing confidence that ACCORD would overcome the current setback and continue its pursuit of better governance for the people.
