It was a day marked by elegance, tradition, and distinguished presence as families, dignitaries, and well-wishers gathered to witness the solemnization of holy matrimony between Favour Chiamaka Igbokwe and Echezona Joseph Igwe.
The church wedding was successfully held at St. John’s Anglican Church, by Chastino Supermarket, opposite World Bank Market, Owerri, where the sacred ceremony unfolded in an atmosphere of reverence, joy, and spiritual solemnity.
The service commenced promptly at 9:00 a.m., in line with the invitation, with clergy officiating under the leadership of The Rt. Revd. Chukwuma Chinekezi Oparah, PhD, JP, Lord Bishop of the Diocese of Owerri, who conducted the union in accordance with Anglican rites. The beautifully decorated sanctuary, adorned in soft hues of cream and gold, reflected the theme of grace and purity that defined the occasion.

The bride, Favour Chiamaka Igbokwe, radiated elegance as she walked down the aisle, while the groom, Echezona Joseph Igwe, stood in composed anticipation. Their exchange of vows before God and the congregation drew heartfelt applause and emotional admiration from attendees.
The ceremony attracted an array of high-profile guests, including the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru (PhD) and her husband, Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru, SAN, alongside several serving and former Commissioners of the Imo State Executive Council, whose presence underscored the social significance of the event. Also in attendance was Hon. Chike Okafor, Member representing Ehime Mbano/Ihitte Uboma/Obowo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, further highlighting the prominence of the occasion.
The wedding recorded strong representation from the academic community, particularly from Federal Polytechnic Nekede, reflecting the institutional ties of the bride’s family. Leading the delegation was the 15th Governing Council Chairman, Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, accompanied by members of the Council, as well as the Immediate Past Council Chairman, Sqn. Leader Chima I. Chima (Rtd.). Principal Officers, staff, and students of Federal Polytechnic Nekede were also present in solidarity, lending institutional pride and warmth to the celebration.

Other notable personalities included Prof. Mrs. Celestina Ugochi Njoku, former Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede and currently Vice Chancellor of Gregory University, Uturu, Abia State; Professor Mrs. Stella Ngozi Lemchi, Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Education, Alvan Ikoku; Dr. Mrs. Chioma Irene Awuzie, Rector, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State; Engr. Dr. Christopher Kalu Okoro, Rector, Abia State Polytechnic, Aba (now Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba); Prof. Christopher E. Eze, Vice Chancellor, Imo State University of Agriculture, Umuagwo; Prof. Ben Ekenyẹa, Vice Chancellor, Vision University; Prof. Duke Okoro, Rector, Federal Polytechnic Orogun, Delta State, ably represented by Dr. Michael Gunn, Director, Career Centre; former Chief Medical Director, Federal University Teaching Hospital, Owerri, Prof. and Dr. (Mrs.) Kingsley Achigbu; and Mr. Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest.
Traditional authority was represented by Eze Godwin Merenini (Dibia I of Umudibia Autonomous Community), while the spiritual community was further enriched by the presence of Evangelist B. C. Abana, General Overseer of Conquerors Church of God International.
Following the church service, guests proceeded to the reception venue at Foret Event Centre, beside Priceless Supermarket, off Concorde Junction, New Owerri, where festivities continued in grand style. The reception featured a vibrant blend of music, cultural displays, and heartfelt tributes as the couple made a grand entrance to resounding cheers and camera flashes from friends, family, and members of the press. Guests were treated to an array of culinary delights, while live performances and dance sessions sustained a lively and celebratory atmosphere. The designated colours of the day—cream, peach, blue, and brown—were elegantly showcased, creating a visually harmonious setting.

In their remarks, dignitaries commended the families of Dr. Cyprian and Dr. (Mrs.) Basilia Igbokwe, as well as the family of the late Chief Simon Igwe and Mrs. Cecilia Igwe, for raising children whose union reflects shared values of excellence, faith, and cultural heritage. Well-wishers described the event as not only a celebration of love but also a remarkable convergence of leadership, academia, tradition, and community spirit.
As the celebration drew to a close, it was evident that the marriage of Favour and Echezona is more than a personal milestone; it is a union celebrated across families, institutions, and society at large. The day will be fondly remembered for its seamless blend of solemnity and splendour, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the couple, surrounded by goodwill, honour, and enduring blessings.
