A new wave of online fraud has emerged, with scammers impersonating Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, the Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, in a bid to lure unsuspecting Nigerians into a fraudulent investment scheme.
The fraudsters reportedly created a WhatsApp group named “Value Focus Club 60,” using the phone number +234 915 708 8290 and displaying the chairman’s image to give the operation an air of legitimacy.
The scheme is designed to deceive individuals into believing they are engaging in an authentic investment platform linked to the financial institution.
However, it has been clarified that Aig-Imoukhuede does not operate any WhatsApp investment group, nor does Access Holdings provide investment advisory services through the messaging platform. Any such claims, according to sources, are entirely false and part of a coordinated scam.
The fraudulent activity was uncovered by a vigilant whistleblower who raised the alarm, prompting warnings for the public to remain cautious and avoid falling victim.
Members of the public have been advised not to join or interact with the group, refrain from sharing personal or banking details, and immediately block and report the suspicious number on WhatsApp.
Meanwhile, Access Holdings is said to be taking steps to shut down the fraudulent platform. Stakeholders have emphasized that public awareness remains critical in curbing the spread of such scams and protecting potential victims.
Nigerians are also encouraged to alert friends and family to the scheme, as cybercriminals continue to exploit trusted names and institutions to perpetrate fraud.
