Oyintiloye’s Alleged Suspension Absurd, Illegal – Obokun APC Chairman

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, Mr. Oluyide Adesina, has faulted the reported suspension of a former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, describing it as absurd, illegal and unconstitutional.

Adesina, in a letter addressed to the Osun State Chairman of the party, Mr. Tajudeen Lawal, said he was neither aware of nor involved in any process leading to the purported suspension of Oyintiloye by some members of APC Ward 01, Ibokun.

The APC chairman accused the Ward 01 Chairman, Mr. Olugbenga Fagbamila, and what he described as a faction of ward executives loyal to him, of acting outside the provisions of the party’s constitution.

According to Adesina, the action clearly violates Article 21 and other relevant sections of the APC Constitution, which explicitly outline the procedures for disciplining or suspending any party member.

“I wish to inform you of the absurdity currently going on in Ward 01, Ibokun, where the Ward Chairman, Olugbenga Fagbamila, and a faction of ward executive members purportedly suspended a leading member of our party,” Adesina stated.

He stressed that as the substantive chairman of the party in Obokun Local Government, he was never informed, consulted, or carried along in the process that led to the alleged suspension.

“I am fully aware that Article 21 and other relevant sections of the constitution of our great party provide clear and unambiguous procedures through which a member can be disciplined or suspended. This action is in clear violation of those provisions,” he added.

Adesina further dissociated himself and the Obokun APC leadership from what he described as an illegal action, warning that such moves could severely undermine the party’s unity and electoral fortunes in the future.

He also drew attention to what he termed a protracted and seemingly irreconcilable crisis within Ibokun Ward, calling on the party leadership at the state level to urgently intervene before the situation escalates further.

“The constitution of our great party must remain our guiding document and should not be trampled upon by any member, regardless of position,” Adesina said.

The development comes amid reports that some APC ward executives and leaders in Ward 01, Ibokun, had announced the indefinite suspension of Oyintiloye over alleged misconduct, including the purported misappropriation of ₦5.6 million, a move now strongly contested by the local government party leadership.
