The Founder and Spiritual Head of Shafaudeen In Islam Worldwide, Prof. Engr. Sabitu Ariyo Olagoke, has called on Nigerians to collectively choose a path of peace, justice and responsible leadership as the nation grapples with insecurity, ethnic tension and governance challenges.
Prof. Olagoke made the call on Saturday, January 24, 2026, while delivering a keynote address at the Shafaudeen Annual International Convention (ISHRAT 2026), held at the Shafaudeen International Headquarters, Wakajaiye, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The convention, which attracted religious leaders, scholars, traditional rulers and followers from within and outside the country, also featured an award ceremony honouring distinguished and eminent personalities for their contributions to humanity and national development.
Speaking on the theme “Which Way Nigeria: Continuity, Separation or Secession?”, Prof. Olagoke examined Nigeria’s history of insecurity, terrorism and political instability, attributing them to weak institutions, corruption, injustice and unresolved structural defects inherited from colonial rule.

He warned against violent secession and unstructured separation, citing the devastating human losses of past conflicts, including the Nigerian Civil War, and advocated instead for dialogue, lawful processes and comprehensive restructuring capable of guaranteeing equity and security for all.
The cleric and educationist urged government at all levels to demonstrate zero tolerance for corruption, end impunity, prosecute sponsors of terrorism, and prioritise good governance, justice and inclusive development.

He further stressed that Africa’s long-term liberation lies in Pan-Africanism, industrialisation and self-reliance, noting that continued dependence on foreign powers perpetuates underdevelopment and cultural erosion.
The Royal Father of the Day, His Imperial Majesty, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, expressed delight at being part of the historic gathering and commended Prof. Olagoke for his spiritual depth, intellectual courage and consistent mentorship of youths.
The monarch prayed for long life, divine wisdom and continued impact for the Shafaudeen founder, while also offering prayers for members of the movement and for peace and stability in Nigeria.

The event ended with prayers for national unity, security and sustainable development, as participants echoed Prof. Olagoke’s call for a bloodless, just and honourable future for Nigeria.
