PRESS RELEASE
The Management of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, on Saturday 18th Oct, 2025, journeyed to Ndioka Ibagwa-Aka Autonomous Community in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria, to pay their last respects to the late Pa Onyishi Emmanuel Odo Nwasogwa, father of Hon. Mrs. Favour Asogwa, a distinguished member of the 15th Governing Council of the Institution.

The late centenarian, who peacefully passed on at the remarkable age of 110 years, was laid to rest in a ceremony marked by dignity, honour, and heartfelt gratitude to God for a long and impactful life.
Leading the Polytechnic delegation was the Rector, Dr. (Mrs.) Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, accompanied by the Institution’s Bursar, Mrs. Chinyere Adanne Ojiuko, alongside Council members, Directors, Deans, and other key functionaries. Their collective presence reflected the Institution’s deep respect and solidarity with one of its own in a moment of farewell and celebration of legacy.

The funeral service featured a powerful, soul stirring sermon by the officiating minister, who extolled the virtues of the late patriarch and urged all to make integrity, faith, and service their watchwords. Compassionate prayers were also offered for the Asogwa family, followed by the final interment of the venerable elder as family members, friends, and dignitaries paid moving tributes.

Guests were later treated to quality entertainment and rich hospitality at the Igbo-Eze South Local Government Secretariat Field, Ibagwa-Aka, a befitting celebration of a life well lived.
In her touching remark, Dr. Igbokwe praised Hon. Favour Asogwa for her humility, commitment, and outstanding service to the Polytechnic’s Governing Council. She described the late Pa Nwasogwa as “a man of rare wisdom, discipline, and uncommon longevity, whose legacy continues to shine through his children and community.”
The ceremony further underscored the cordial relationship and mutual respect shared between the Governing Council and the Management of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, who continue to work in unity toward sustaining the Institution’s vision of excellence and progress.
