The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has officially declared the results of the local government elections held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.
Announcing the outcome at the commission’s headquarters in Yaba, the LASIEC Chairman, Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (Rtd), stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) swept all 57 available chairmanship positions and secured 375 out of 376 councillorship seats.
The only exception was a councillorship seat in Yaba Local Council Development Area, which was won by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), marking the party’s sole victory in the entire exercise.
Justice Okikiolu-Ighile commended security agencies for their professionalism and swift response during the polls, noting that their presence helped maintain peace and order throughout the election process.
While applauding the peaceful conduct of the exercise, she however bemoaned the voters aparty experienced during the exercise.
