FedPoly Nekede Launches Career Development Initiative

As part of her transformative 11-point agenda to revitalize career development, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Dr. (Mrs.) Basilia Igbokwe, approved a One-Day Training Programme for Career Officers. Organized by the Directorate of Career Development, the event was held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Executive Training Centre, Weekend Block, Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri.

According to a statement released by the Special Assistant to the Rector on Media Matters, Noble Uchegbu Uchechukwu Zachariah, the programme commenced with an inspiring opening remark by Engr. Norbert Nworie, Director of Career Development, who expressed gratitude to the Rector for her unwavering support and congratulated the carefully selected career officers, emphasizing the privilege and responsibility of their roles.

Engr. Nworie urged the officers to uphold the confidence placed in them and exceed the expectations of both the Rector and the Federal Government.

Representing the Rector, Dr. A.C. Madu, Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, delivered a compelling address. He underscored the importance of discipline, innovation, and ethical responsibility within the Directorate, urging officers to embrace values-driven training.

Dr. Madu praised the meticulous planning and execution of the event, assuring participants that he would relay his positive observations to the Rector. He expressed confidence in the Directorate’s ability to overcome challenges and sustain the initiative, while calling for continued dedication from all officers.

Engr. Nworie led the first workshop session, outlining the mission, scope, and strategic roadmap of the Directorate of Career Development. He emphasized a vision rooted in measurable impact, strategic technology use, and preparing students for long-term professional success.

The workshop featured esteemed resource persons, including Dr. Besta Okey Onyegbuchulem, Director of Career Development at Imo State Polytechnic, Omuma, Oru East Local Government, among others.

They delivered insightful presentations on topics such as Career Counselling Techniques, Alumni Engagement, and Resume Writing.

This Career Development Initiative clearly reflects the forward-thinking leadership of Dr. (Mrs.) Basilia Igbokwe, whose administration is committed to addressing all facets of institutional growth.

The trained officers are now equipped to empower students, ensuring optimal performance from admission to graduation for maximum impact.
