The Ekiti Parapo UK, a prominent diaspora group of Ekiti indigenes in the United Kingdom, held its monthly meeting on Saturday, June 8, 2025, with renewed commitment to humanitarian outreach, cultural promotion, and unity among members.
At the meeting, President Comrade Olamide Idowu and the association’s Secretary General, Mr. Adetokunbo Layokun, jointly reviewed recent activities, with emphasis on the President’s recent visit to Ekiti State, Nigeria. During the visit, Comrade Idowu led the commencement of a new phase of the group’s charitable mission—distributing exercise books and providing school uniforms to underprivileged students.
This initiative builds on a similar outreach conducted in December 2024, when the association distributed food items to less privileged families in Ekiti.
To sustain and expand these efforts, the association is planning to establish a charity shop in the UK. Members will be encouraged to donate unused personal items, which will be sold at affordable prices, with proceeds used to support ongoing humanitarian and educational initiatives.
A highlight of the meeting was the warm reception of Prince Adebisi Moses Gbadegesin, publisher of Score Express Magazine, who attended with a member of his crew.
Gbadegesin, who traced his ancestral roots to Efon Alaaye in Ekiti, was acknowledged for his cultural pride despite his family’s later settlement in Gbongan, Osun State.
Members in attendance used the opportunity to reaffirm their collective dedication to unity, love, and the progress of Ekiti State, pledging to continue supporting the association’s objectives both at home and abroad.
With the Ekiti Parapo Cultural Day set to hold on July 13, 2025, members were shown the newly produced shirts and caps for the event. Sensitisation efforts are already in top gear to ensure a successful and well-attended cultural celebration.
Comrade Idowu, who also doubles as Global Coordinator of “Do It Right Africa”, a civic organisation promoting value reorientation and a renewed sense of duty across the continent, urged members to remain focused on impactful service, unity, and cultural heritage.
