The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) convened its Southwest Working Committee Meeting on Friday, March 7, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State, as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s structure and prepare for future electoral contests.
The meeting, held at the Oyo State party secretariat, was presided over by the party’s National Vice Chairman (Southwest), Hon. Lanre Azzan, and brought together key representatives from the six states in the region—Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, Osun, and Ondo.
In his address, Hon. Azzan emphasized the need for unity and dedication among members, urging them to work collectively in expanding the party’s influence across the region.
He noted that the recent inauguration of new party leadership during the February national convention in Abuja had positioned ZLP for stronger electoral performance in the 2027 general elections.
“The national leadership has high expectations from every member. We must ensure that the party is firmly rooted in all regions, particularly in the Southwest, where we need to expand our base and enhance our electoral chances,” Azzan stated.
Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive leadership and grassroots mobilization, Azzan pledged to collaborate with state executives to drive the party’s agenda.
He stressed the importance of internal cohesion, strategic engagement with key stakeholders, and strengthening party structures at the ward, local government, and state levels.
Party leaders at the meeting deliberated on strategies to bolster ZLP’s presence across the Southwest, expressing optimism about its prospects.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the party’s regional leadership resolved to intensify mobilization efforts, positioning ZLP as a formidable political force.
