Olagoke Urges Tinubu To Prioritize Economy, Security, People’s Needs

Engr. Prof. Sabitu Ariyo Olagoke, (JP) founder and Grand Imam of Shafaudeen In Islam Worldwide, has urged President Bola Tinubu to focus on addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges, insecurity, and the welfare of citizens.

Speaking during the 27th Walimotu Qur’an of Shafaudeen Markaz, held at Shafaudeen International headquarters in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, on Saturday, February 1, 2015, Olagoke emphasized that governance must center on the well-being of the people.

The Grand warlord In Islam noted that while Nigeria has access to international financial support and vast natural resources, past leadership failures and insecurity have severely hindered economic growth and stability.

“The federal government has everything at its disposal—international grants and natural resources. However, insecurity has crept into the system due to past governance failures, affecting everyone, from the grassroots to the elites,” a seasoned educationist said.

Olagoke highlighted that the fear of kidnapping and ritual killings has become pervasive, while economic hardship is pushing many Nigerians into desperation.

He lamented that President Tinubu has yet to curb ostentatious lifestyles among government officials, which, he warned, fuels resentment among struggling citizens.

Addressing the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, Olagoke urged her to align with the suffering masses rather than the political elite.

“If the First Lady identifies with the people in need, she can influence policies that alleviate their suffering,” he noted.

He further stressed the importance of food security, urging the government to resolve the crisis between farmers and herders, which has led to food shortages and skyrocketing prices.

On governance, Olagoke called for justice and equity in Nigeria’s democratic system, emphasizing the need for an efficient judiciary and decisive action against corruption.

He advised the Tinubu administration to learn from the shortcomings of the Buhari government, particularly in tackling institutional indiscipline and corruption.

“The masses know those responsible for corruption, but none of them is being brought to book. Nigerians are enduring, but when you cheat them openly, that’s when instability arises,” he warned.

Olagoke concluded by urging Tinubu to listen to the cries of Nigerians and realign his policies to reflect the needs of the people.

“Good governance requires a disciplined society. Mr. President must use the people’s worries to re-engineer his strategies and ensure a better Nigeria,” he said.
