The Council of Traditional Baales in Ibadanland has honored the Chairman of Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Mogaji Isiaka Abiola Olagunju , SAN, with an award of Excellence and distinguished leadership for his outstanding contributions to the development of Ibadanland and Oyo state at large.
While conferring the award on Mogaji of Opere Compound, Isale Osi in Ibadan, at a brief ceremony held on Thursday at the OYSIEC Headquarters,Agodi Ibadan, the President of the Council, Baale (Elite) Oladapo Wasiu Aare, said the awardee has played a crucial role in promoting democracy and good governance in Oyo State.
He explained that under his leadership, OYSIEC has conducted two successful local government council elections which took place in 2021 and 2024.
He said: “The award from the Council of Traditional Baales in Ibadanland is in recognition of Olagunju’s dedication to public service and his commitment to upholding the values of democracy and transparency.
“He has also been chosen as an ambassador to this council due to his continuous contribution to Ibadanland”
In his response, the OYSIEC Chairman, Mogaji Isiaka Abiola Olagunju, SAN, appreciated the Council of Traditional Baales in Ibadanland, for finding him worthy of the award.
He explained that his contributions to the development of Ibadanland was mainly to satisfy his conscience, noting that he would not relent in his efforts in promoting Ibadanland and oyo state at large.
Mogaji Olagunju promised not to do anything that will tarnish the image of Ibadanland but to remain one of the good ambassadors of the ancient city.
The brief ceremony had in attendance, OYSIEC Commissioner, Chief Kunmi Agboola, Director of Finance and Accounts, Mrs. Olatunji Muinat and a host of others.
